Quicker than the majority color laser printers plus capable to undertake tabloid-size paper, the Xerox Phaser 7500DN is a super sized unit in its class--and so is its price tag. For those who require tabloid- or banner-sized color printouts, however, it does a gorgeous work.

The Phaser 7500/DN raced through our presentation tests. It printed plain-text pages at a rate of 28.1 pages per minute (ppm) as well as color pages as fast as 5.1 ppm--short of Xerox's assure of up to 35 ppm, but still considerably quicker than other color lasers we've tested. Tabloid-size pages are four times larger than our letter-size print samples also will likely take even longer per page to print. The print quality was smart as well as sensible overall, not including for flesh tones, which tended to have an orange transmit.

This high-volume item can take paper all way. A 500-sheet key input tray takes up to 11.7-by-17-inch paper; optional 500-sheet or 1500-sheet feeders hold up to 13-by-18-inch media. The 100-sheet flexible tray (MPT) can take up to 12.6-by-47.2-inch, banner-size media. Duplexing is average. My one peeve: the printer's control panel makes you verify paper settings each time you release a tray. On most printers, this is handled from within the printer driver, which is less disturbing.

The control panel (with a six-line, monochrome LCD) has an easy design, but I didn't like having to back out of submenus physically. The toner cartridges are easy to use, with colors noticeably observable on the cartridges along with the slots keyed by color. The PDF-based user guide is inclusive, along with a paper-based Quick Use Guide comes attach to the side of the printer. Unusually, the concluding doesn't cover up ordinary tasks such as replacing consumables as well as clearance jams.

The Xerox Phaser 7500/DN is very quick, long-lasting, wide-format laser printer that can print all from a memorandum to a poster without discontinuous. Oki Printing Solutions' C8800n is a less-expensive wide-format printer, but it's not too intended to operate very fast.
