Thread: How to do multiple page feeds

My printer can handle the separation of multiple pages on the tray. However sometimes, it fails to do so. As a result of this, multiple sheets of paper are fed into it, thus causing the faulty prints and paper jams. It renders the main paper as well as the extra paper useless, since the printer leaves marks on both. Why does this happen and what can I do to avoid multiple paper feeds?

One of the main reasons your printer isn't able to separate some sheets of paper is because they are stuck together. Individual sheets of paper often get stuck to one another if they're too tightly packed or if stored in hot and humid locations. Make sure that you store the papers in a cool, dry place when not in use for a long time. However, stuck paper is not the only cause of multiple feeds.

It also occurs when multiple sheets of paper are forced into the tray beyond its limits. When the paper is pushed too far into the tray the printer fails to recognize independent sheets of paper since they are already beyond the entry vent. Make sure that you do not exert extra pressure while placing papers in your tray. The moment you feel the resistance from the other end of the paper that you are trying to shove into the tray, simply leave the paper there. The tray will be used a platform from which individual sheets of paper will be taken into the printer for printing.

Another reason why you may be experiencing this problem may be the level of the paper that's placed on the tray. If the paper isn't flat, but is curled or bent instead, then remove it and try to flatten it. If this doesn't work then reject the paper. There is also a chance of paper rollers inside your printer being dirty or malfunctioning. Make sure that you clean the printer rollers with care or opt for professional assistance.
