Whether you missing printer installation disc or require updated drivers, downloading present printer drivers is quite simple for anybody to do. Occasionally you can repair printer problems just by downloading updated drivers from company. Before you go out and purchase a new printer try downloading a new driver to see if it will repair problem. There are two methods of downloading updated drivers for printer. The first is simple but not quite as consistent. Try it first but be ready to move on to second method.

Use the Device Manager

1. Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties." Click on "Hardware" tab in pop-up window and then click on "Device Manager."

2. Find printer in the list and double-click on it. Pick "Driver" tab.

3. Click on "Update driver" button, and then allow Windows look for, and install, driver.

Download Manually

Step 1

Find the brand and model number of printer. Also find which operating system is used and which edition of Windows (or Linux, or Mac).

Step 2

Find particular website for brand of printer. Search for that company's name, and then go to their site. Drivers are usually found in "Support," "Downloads" or "Drivers."

4. Step 3

Find particular printer model on website. It is essential to find right model printer driver, using incorrect printer model can make the printer useless or cause printer failure. After right driver is found, click on screen that begins download. Note the place where file is being saved.
