Thread: Brother MFC-295CN Printer

The Brother MFC-295CN is a printer, copier, scanner and fax all rolled into one. The device sports a blend of black glossy and matte finish. Similar to other Brother printers, the USB connector is inside:the unit. You need to open the scanner unit to attach the USB connector. The printer supports PictBridge and USB 2.0, these are housed in the front next to the slots for media cards.

There is an active fax switch that enables the device to automatically distinguish between a call and a fax. There is a display screen in the front along with a panel of buttons , these control operations in the absence of a connected PC. Installing the four individual cartridges is very easy, as the cartridge holder is present at the front. There is a single tray for input and output. The input papers face downwards while the printed output emerges facing upwards.



In our test, the MFC-295CN printed around 8 pages of black and white text per minute. For a colour print it took 43 seconds. While photocopying a colour A4 page it took 41 second s. Brother's scanner interface is basic, however, the device performs al; the basic functions. During copying one can select resolutions and bit depth, and choose from the variety of preset sizes that are available. However, we had to wait almost 21 seconds for a colour copy. The print quality of both black & white and colour were satisfactory. The scan quality was good. However, ,copier output was slightly washed-out.
