    Default How to Make Fold?

When I print out a letter on A4 paper it's fine until I try to fold it to insert it into an envelope. I always get the folds wrong and so my beautifully printed letter looks a mess after I've had to refold it. Would it be possible to automatically print some small mark on the paper to show where the first fold should be? The mark should not, of course, be moved by any typing of the text.

It's relatively easy to do a quick fix for this, although as you'l see, this has its disadvantages. First, open a blank document and make sure the vertical ruler is showing on the left hand side of the Word window. If it's not, go to the Tool menu and click Options. Under the View tab (which should be the first to appear), find the Print and Web Layout Options section and make sure Vertical Ruler is ticked, then click OK. If you still don't see the ruler, click the View menu and select Nomlal, then go back to the View menu and click Print Layout. You should then see the ruler.

Also, it might be worth zooming in for best accuracy - use the zoom section in the toolbar at the top of the screen - but make sure you can see both the top and left edges of the page. The Drawing tool bar is what we need next, and you can make this appear by going to the View menu, then going to the Toolbars entry and selecting Drawing from the list. If it is already ticked, you should see it on your screen - it may appear at the bottom. When the toolbar appears, select the line tool, the icon for which is a diagonal line going from top-left to bottom-right (don't select the one with an arrow head at the end).

Now, using a real ruler, measure the distance, on a letter you've already folded correctly, from the top to the first fold. Word works by default in centimeters, so it's probably worth doing the same. Now, using the vertical ruler in Word, locate the same position on the page.
