Common UNIX Printing System is utilized on Linux to handle local and networked printers. It has Web-based graphical design file that permits to handle printers and jobs, and include printers to classes. It utilized in combination with Samba to share printers with Windows machines. To include network printer by CUPS, you should know IP address of server and name of printer.

Instructions

• Mount CUPS program. Perform this from distribution's graphical package manager or command-line tools.

• Open CUPS Web interface by typing "http://localhost:631" in browser window.

• Click "Add Printer" in “Welcome" sector.

• Enter name of networked printer.

• Type a place. This could be IP address of printer or physical place of printer.

• Add description. This can be anything or blank.

• Select "Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)" from "Device".

• Enter network position of printer in format "ipp://server_ip_address/printer/printer_name."

• Select right printer and driver, and click "Continue."

• Click "Print Test Page."
