Thread: Can’t function Brother-HL-2170W Printer

I have PC and installed Windows 7 on it. Now I purchased Brother-HL-2170W Printer and attached it to PC but printer is not getting identified. When printer is on, system shows error as "This Device cannot be used". So please tell me why Brother-HL-2170W Printer is not working. And help me to solve this problem.

I think connecting cord is defective. If you are using USB cord then it has lines of conductors which can damage because of inappropriate handling and storage. If any of lines of conductor gets damaged then communication among PC and device won’t be correct and it will not get detected by PC. Thus try and replace cord and see if printer gets detected. Also try and alter the port on which printer is attached.

May be printer is defective and it is not detected by PC. To verify this reset printer and attach it to PC. Occasionally firmware of printer gets stuck and printer won’t be detected. To bring printer out of loop, you must reset printer, to reset printer, press and hold power and paper feed button jointly as starting printer. Keep buttons pressed till all LED's on printer glow. Once all LED's glow, release button and allow printer restart. Check if printer gets detected or not. If printer still doesn’t get detected, then get printer replaced as it is defective.
