Canon LBP3250 in the monochrome laser printer is a compact and well-designed device. Its specification modest - one port USB, low noise and 8000 pages maximum monthly duty cycle make it a good personal laser printer for home or office use. We were struck by small touches, like the flap to provide easier access to the printer's built-in USB port, which delivered us from the normal process blindly to get cable in place. We liked its stylish design, with a hinged dust cover to keep out clean when not in use. Even if you start printing with the lid closed pages can still go through a narrow slit in the lid. The input tray folds out from the front of the machine.
Very simple to make and install a simple driver and only one consumable - black toner cartridge with an incorporated photoconductor tap. We were also pleased to find that LBP3250 comes with 1000 page starter toner cartridge. Replacing the print cartridge 2000 pages 1871B002AA cost 49 each. This leads to a page, the cost of 2.5p. Although it is not significantly higher than the average price for single-page with the similarly priced laser and inkjet printers do not stand out compared to printing costs for other, cheaper, mono lasers.
The total cost of printer ownership is less than impressive. If you use light print 100 pages a month, a total of 3600 within three years, you can expect to spend £ 198 for that period. This rises to £ 590 for the average user print 21000 pages for the same three-year period.
Print speed among the fastest we've seen from a compact device laser mono in 21.7ppm in our test text mono and 20.6ppm for our heavily illustrated gray business documents. Standard quality text and illustrations of business were sharp, dark and solid.
Although the printer has a fixed native resolution of 600x600dpi There are three different quality settings: Normal, Text / Line, and Web pages that use the improved resolution to establish an effective resolution of up to 2400 x600dpi. Text / lines mode is designed to smooth out jagged edges in the production of monochrome printing color text and graphics.
Setting up a web page helps to ensure the optimum quality printing for heavy graphics, such as Web pages, pictures or pictorial documents. We used the latter for our test prints. This does not affect the speed with which our photographic images printed - 16 seconds to six images on three sheets of A4 - but made some notable improvements to the quality of smooth regions, which appeared in the mode of rough quality.
