The HP Photosmart B8550 is an advanced photo printer that can handle large prints, up to 13 x 19 inches on a one sheet, or even bigger as banner prints. It generates best quality prints, with better color accuracy and deep blacks.
It has buttons on the top left corner, the ink indicators below them and the cover of the ink compartment below this. Each of the paper trays are also on the front of the printer: the main paper tray is at the base, then there is the paper output tray and the flop-down manual feed tray above that.
It uses 8 ink cartridges: Matte Black, Photo Black, Light Grey, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan and Light Magenta. That's a slightly strange blend; most printers use only one or two blacks, but the this adds a 3rd light grey, which company claims will get better the replica of neutral tones. All of the inks are pigment based, and company claims a print life of over 200 years for prints that are right printed and stored; there is no clear coating ink, the cartridges are HP type 38, which are used by numerous of their printer models. Each cartridge can be altered independently, and there are also 4 separate print heads that hold the 8 colors; two for each print head.
