Intel thinks that audio could potentially be utilized to assist Wi-Fi machines link to routers more efficiently and rapidly.
Intel’s Applications laboratory has filed a patent entitled ‘Audible authentication for cordless network enrollment’ which would permit cordless machines to link to the router through a series of sounds.
“With one or more mentioned methods, an unauthorized cordless machine audibly emits a uniquely identifying secret code. In few implementations, the audible code is listened through the user and manually entered through a network-enrollment user interface. In other implementations, a network-authorizing machine automatically picks up the audible code and verifies the code. If verified, the cordless machine is enrolled onto the cordless network.”
