Cheap printers often have major running costs that in fact make them as expensive
in the long run. However, the ML-2245 from Samsung is a basic monochrome laser printer meant to print 2,000 pages with a single toner that also does not make a dent in the budget. The ML-2245 is well featured for paper handling. A 150-sheet input tray slots in flush with the front of the unit. There is also a manual tray that can take a single sheet of paper. Printouts are delivered face-down to the top output tray. The printer connects to the PC via the USB port. The printer features a main power button and a single button on top that needs to be used in case of printing errors or paper jams. There are two indicator LEDs that display the status of the printer.

The first print takes some time to come out as ML2245 warms up before the print. Print quality is best at 600dpi, despite the availability of 1,200dpi which makes greys look grainy or murky. Print speed is best when using the USB 2.0 achieving around 17ppm real-world performance for plain text output, compared with the official engine speed of 22ppm. The printer lacks automatic duplex function and features manual duplex. The build quality and the colour of the printer are decent. Although not that bulky, the ML-2245 has some decent height. The ML-2245 is a passable monochrome printer for people who do not want to / spend a bomb. The price of the printer is Rs.6,999 and comes with one year warranty.
