Barring the internal memory difference, this printer from Xerox looked quite similar to Samsung's printers. The controls are pretty simple with just a single button to manage and run the printer. The 3117 has 8 MB of on-board memory. With a strong build quality, the Phaser 3117 supports paper of varied qualities, including transparencies and envelopes, besides the regular A4 size. In the test, this printer performed well and produced more than acceptable results. At 13 pages per minute, it is a bit of a laggard given the pace set by the other printers in the fray. However, this is somewhat made up by the quality of the output, which was excellent.
It turned out fine quality PDF documents and the gray scales reproduced brilliantly without any evidence of smudging. It was, however, not that impressive when it came to printing curves and slanting lines. The Phaser 3117 offers an average value for money - it did not produce exceptional results and it did not offer any additional features through its drivers or software. However, this is a robust and sound printer which is effective and gets the job done with minimum fuss. At RS.5,625 with one year warranty, this one is the cheapest printer of the lot. It supports Linux besides all versi6n's of Windows.
