Without a doubt (and this statement requires no testing) this is one of the cheapest of all the printers on test here. But is it the best? Read on for the answer. The first thing that strikes you about the LBP-1210 is its size-it is definitely bigger than all the printers in this test. In terms of styling too this beige coloured printer is fairly basic. It has just one LED that lights up when it's powered on. Much like the other runners in this race this printer too connects on both USB and parallel ports. The resolution at 600 DPI is acceptable considering that laser printers are generally used for text heavy document printing. The paper tray on the front of the printer holds 250 sheets.
A gripe that we have with the printer is that this tray pushes out excessively, by almost half the length of the printer. Installing the printer is pretty simple, just insert the toner, plug in the USB and power cable and the Windows XP will detect the new printer and ask for the drivers. The driver installation went without a hitch and the LBP-1210 was ready for action in only a few minutes. On test the LBP-1210 required no warm up time and delivered good clear text-noiselessly too! The first page was out in no time. The printing speed was pretty close to what Canon claims - 13 pages per minute. Printing the test PDF document that contained a combination of text and graphics revealed that the printer can print font size as small as 3 point. However the lines and bands were slight smudgy. This makes it an average printer in terms of printing images or charts.
