Centrino and Turion are very tough to compare as they are 2 different technologies. One is Intel's platform for mobile computing while the other is a brand name for AMD's line of mobile processors.

Processors:

At present;s series of Centrino-based PCs uses the mobile version of Intel's Core i7 processors. At presents Turion processor series used the Turion II, and is dependent on the same "Deneb" core that powers the Phenom II desktop processors.

Chipset:

Motherboard chipsets are difficult to be compared between the 2 brands. On the AMD processors, the northbridge is added in the processor. However, both series runs at same speeds.

Wireless:

There are no wireless chipsets connected with Turion branding. Today’s Centrino laptops use wireless-n network adapters, which transfers data at up to 600 MBPS.

Memory:

Both series at present run with the modern DDR-3 memory. This permits using the RAM that runs at a important fraction of the speed of the main processor, enhancing performance.

The Bottom Line:

With latest technology, Intel is still ruling AMD by a good margin referring to the clock speeds. And also, Intel's support of multiple core processors is also enhanced. The difference is not that big though. Both processors are recommended.
