AMD's triple cores come in three versions with different clock speeds, but otherwise similar specifications. The top of the line CPU that we have reviewed, the X3 8750 is clocked at 2.4GHz; the X3 8650 and the X3 8450 are clocked at 2.3GHz and 2.1GHz respectively.
All of them come with 512kB L2 cache per core and a shared 2MB L3 cache. All ofthem have a maximum rated power dissipation of 95Watt. A newer inclusion in the Phenom line is the increase of the HyperTransport speed from 2GHz to a very high 3.6GHz.
The Intel dual cores at the same point look better on paper - the Core 2 Duo E6750 runs at 2.67 GHz, shared 4MB L2 cache and power dissipation rated at
65Watt. The E8200, set to replace the E6750, in fact, has a shared 6MB L2 cache for the two cores.
