Unlike MS Word, MS Excel does not enable you to superscript specific values. You can superscript all the contents of a cell but not individual characters. If you need to denote a square of a number, you cannot do so in Excel directly. You can however tweak the settings using the find and replace dialog box. To do so, carry out the following steps:
Go to the 'Home' tab.
Click the 'Find & Select' option appearing under the 'Editing' group.
Select the 'Replace' option from the drop-down menu.
NOTE: Alternatively, Press the [Ctrl] + [H) keys.
Type the full number in the 'Find What' textbox of the 'Find & Replace' dialog box.
In the 'Replace With' text box enter the base number. While keeping the [Alt] key pressed, press [0] + [1] + [7] + [8] one after the other from the numeric keypad. Make sure 'Num Lock' is turned on.
The number 2 appears as a superscript character.
Click the 'Replace' button to replace similar values.
