IF you use the header / footer feature in MS Word extensively, then you would know how you can have a different header and footer content for the first page and the rest of the document. With the help of this simple tip, you can add unique header and footer values to the last page as well. To add unique first page header / footer values, carry out the following steps:
Go to 'Insert' tab. Click either the 'Header' or the 'Footer' button as per your requirement from the 'Header & Footer' group.
Click the 'Design' sub-tab appearing under the newly formed 'Header & Footer Tools' section.
Check the 'Different First Page' options appearing under the 'Options' group.
The header / footer value will be unique for the first page of the document. To add unique header / footer values in the last page of the document, carry out the following steps:
Go to the footer on the second page. Press [Ctrl] + [R] to right align the f90ter text.
Press [Ctrl] + [F9] to invoke bookmark characters.
Type '{ IF { PAGE} < { NUMPAGES} 'Ends' 'Continued .. .' }.
To print the filename as the last page footer, edit the above footer value as '{ IF { PAGE} < { NUMPAGES} {Filename /p} 'Continued ... ' }.
Click out of the footer area to save the changes.
NOTE:
Each brace bracket denotes a: new bookmark. Type the text fields as specified as above and remove the curly brackets. To create bookmarks, select the word or phrase to be enclosed within the bookmark characters and Press [Ctrl] + [F9].
