EXCEL has been designed in such a way that it co-exists with almost all other programs running on a computer. If there are applications interfering with the normal working of Excel, or you wish not to share your Excel based information with other applications, you can configure it that way. Carry out the steps as mentioned below:

Click the 'Office Button'.

Click the 'Excel Options' button. Click the 'Advanced' option

appearing on the left panel of the 'Excel Options' dialog box.

Scroll down, till you locate the 'General' section.

Check the 'Ignore Other Applications That Use Dynamic Data Exchange (DOE)' option. Click 'OK' to save the changes.

NOTE:

If you uncheck the 'Ignore Other Applications That Use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)' option, it can cause Excel to behave out of the ordinary. The application performs all its usual functions, but checking on this option, changes the internal working of Excel within the Windows environment.
