Since Google Chrome is still in its early days, there isn't a full fledged add-on available to block ads. So here's something that will help you block those irritating advertisements that keep popping up every now and then. Here we will be using a tool called 'Privoxy'. Follow these steps to install the application and configure your browser accordingly,

Download privoxy software

Click 'Download recent releases' under the 'Download' section.

In the next page that opens up click on one of the 'Download' links.

You will be redirected to the page that hosts the file. Download the file from the page.

Click the wrench icon that indicates the Tools menu in Google Chrome.

From the drop-down menu select the 'Options' option.

Go to the 'Under the Hood' tab.

Scroll down till you see the 'Change proxy settings' button and click it.

Click 'LAN Settings' in the 'Connections'tab.

Enter '127.0.0.1' and '8118' in the 'address' and 'port' text boxes respectively.
