What is SGML? I am learning HTML. While reading HTML I know that SGML is the base of Html and XML. But I am aware about the SGML. I want to know the detailed information. I have searched in net, but it didn’t get any information. All possible information and comments are appreciated.

SGMl stand for standard generalized markup language
Advantages of SGML:
• SGML allows standardized appearance of the complex documents to be enforced.
• SGML is used to reduce person involvement within the creation of document, which is time saving.
• SGML gives the automatic recovery of the information
• Format changing is very simple with SGML
