Cheap web-design software rarely manages to impress us because so many
of these packages seem to be stuck in the online dark ages, where web pages consist of a few static images, a column of unjustified text and the odd clickable hyperlink or two. WebEasy 7 Professional aims higher - it is a low-cost option designed to retain the simplicity of use of the old-style packages while providing more complex design capabilities for modern websites.
It does a fair job but as is so often the case, it does as much wrong as it does right. Getting a basic web page up and running is straightforward enough, not least because WebEasy includes plenty of ready-made templates. To add extra content and functionality such as a web counter, or some additional graphics - is a straightforward drag-and-drop affair.
Indeed, we found that with WebEasy it was easy to create a website that was fancier than the average homemade affair. This suite offers a range of advanced features, including the ability to create RSS feeds and online shopping services, but WebEasy can't quite decide
whether it wants to appeal to beginners or the more experienced user. For example, we thought the publishing guide did not offer enough help for novices. Conversely, those who might be keen to use a package like this to build a shopping website for a small business, say, would probably be disappointed by the rudimentary nature of WebEasy's tools. While we can definitely recommend WebEasy 7 Professional to home users who are keen to build a better than-average amateur website
