Thread: Steps for run system restore using command prompt.

I want to run system restore using command prompt. How it is possible. Please provide some step by step information that is easy to understand. I am having Windows XP operating system .Thank you.

Try this:

Remember one thing you can only use the System Restore feature at a command prompt while in Safe Mode.:

1. Reboot your PC

2. Boot your computer in to Safe Mode :

3. Make sure to log in as administrator account.

4. Enter the following in to the command prompt:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

5. Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer to an earlier state.

• Restart your Computer

• When the system boots, type F8 to comes the boot menu

• choose the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option

• Log-on as administrator if required

• In command prompt type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe >>press Enter

• This will open the system restore wizard… then follow the instruction
