    What is the difference between RAM and ROM? Please give me detailed information on it. All possible replies and comments are appreciated. Thanks in advanced

    RAM stands for Random Access Memory that is volatile in nature. It means that when the PC is turned OFF, the contents are cleaned. ROM stands for Read Only Memory in which once content is written, perseveres.

    RAM:

    a. Volatile memory

    b. Electricity needs to flow continuously

    c. Program information is stored in RAM

    d. RAM is read / write memory

    e. Cost is high


    f. An example of RAM is a floppy disk

    ROM:

    a. Permanent memory

    b. Instructions are stored in ROM permanently.

    c. BIOS has information to boot the system

    d. ROM is read only memory

    e. Access speed is less

    f. An example of ROM is a CD-ROM

    ROM is acronym of "Read Only Memory". Example of ROM is a CD-ROM disk. RAM is acronym of "Ready Access Memory". An example of RAM is a floppy disk. RAM is used for the both read and write but ROM is used for only Reading.
