    Default RAM problem

I purchased a Dell Vostro with 4Gb RAM installed it has been sluggish as I purchased . instantly I read that all RAM slot should only have a max of 1Gb. But I have found that Dell employed it with 2Gb RAMs in two of the slots when my PC looks to regonize the memory but I am questioning whether this was a cause of a slow computer etc.

i question that all the in activeness that you have is because of your ram. As 4 gb of ram is way more than enough for all computers be it 32 or 64bit.....

Four Gb RAM is installed, but simply 3.2Gb can be used I would have believed still 3.2Gb would be adequate for sensible running?

Between I defrag, use Ccleaner and spy bot search and defeat every day

As for 32 bit windows,it will just be capable to check and apply your ram up to 3.5gb. nothing more, and 3.2 gb is standard, this has nothing to do with dell.wish to acquire more out of it,you will have to switch to 64bit..but still in my idea, your installed ram is more than enough.

Back to our topic, about the sluggishness that you are experiencing,it probably has acquired something to do with your windows, and for a start,i advise to check out on things such as your lately installed software and start-up items.
