Default 4GB Ram only 3 GB usable less than 32bit Win7?

I've installed in my system (Asus A8N Sli, Athlon X2 4200), two additional memory modules (2GB to 4GB). All 4 banks are now equipped with 1 GB. When I started Win7 32bit and have the Control Panel I looked at my hardware overview, Windows displays the 4 GB, but writes only 3 were available? Can you tell me why? Covered Win7 can handle the 32bit version with more than 3 GB, or am I mistaken here?

    Thank you!

there you should be finding. Windows 7 in 32 bit cannot address 4GB. No, it is not because Win7 but 32bit. You need 64bit. In general, your hardware occupies the remaining memory. So it's all right.

If you want to use the full 4 Gb, bit you should upgrade to Windows 7 64. I'm very satisfied with it. 32-bit programs also run, containing not only 16 programs bit more.

    Simple explanation:

With 32bit, there is a certain number of "addresses". This can wring to the ram but also to address all the equipment put in your PC. At 32 bit, but not enough addresses available to complete the RAM and also to address the components. So that the PC works at all, will of course be addressed and taken all the equipment until the ram amount.

On x64 this is not the case, because (said very simple) are much more addresses.
