Single setting up in CanoScan 8800F that I reviewed 2 years before, the CanoScan 9000F Movie and Negative Scanner is Canon's fresh high-end user-step flatbed scanner. May be unsurprisingly, it nearly parallels the 8800F in together strengths and disadvantages. In particular, it does an very excellent job with photographic prints but is without effective for movie. As with the 8800F, that creates it valuable considering if you are primarily interested in prints, but need the power to scan movie occasionally as well.


Similar to its closest competition, which adds the 8800F, the Epson Perfection V600, and the Editors' Option Epson Perfection V500, the 9000F can serve as a common-intention scanner for together files and images. It still arrives with software for visual character recognition (OCR). There is no question, however, that it focuses on images, with characteristics that add restoring faded colors in images and digitally getting rid of dust and graininess.




Easily having the power to scan movie is another denotation of the plan focus on images, but—as with its closest competition, and rather apart from any questions about scan quality—the movie scanning is fixed. You can scan a more of 4 slides or two strips of 35mm film at once, with 6 frames each strip, or one strip of medium-format film. If you have plenty of film to scan, you should be expecting at a different class of scanner, similar to the much more costly Epson Perfection 700.


As with much flatbed scanners, setting is simple. Simply set up the software, fix the scanner in place, unlock the scan head, and plug in the power cord and supplied Universal Serial Bus cable. I set up the 9000F on a system functioning Windows Vista, but consorting to Canon, the scanner too arrives with a full set of drivers and software for Windows 7, XP, and 2000, as good as for Mac OS X 10.4.11 by 10.6.


The bunch software is mostly concentrated on images scanning, with an option of 2 image editors—Arcsoft PhotoStudio six and Adobe Photoshop Elements VIII. PhotoStudio is the simpler program to acquire began with if you are fresh to scanning. Photoshop Parts is the excellent option for more sophisticated consumers, whether you are already in that category or finally outgrow PhotoStudio.
