Default Tips for Access Migration to Oracle

    Hello everyone,

I got an application that uses both Access and Oracle databases ... and I was asked to study the feasibility of any move to Oracle
So ... regarding the bases Access ... (watch the eyes) there was a 20aine for which some have linked tables with Access tables and / or Oracle.

Upon reflection ... I thought to do as follows:

    1) Access databases merge into one ... including all tables and all queries.
    2) use Oracle SQL Developer to generate the migration scripts and migrate.

By cons ... I ask myself some questions ...
    a) Access will take t he linked tables or not during the merger?
    b) Access will keep t it by renaming the duplicate tables and queries?
    c) How Oracle SQL Developer runs t he linked tables?
    d) Otherwise, it will you?

If you have any suggestions, comments and even insults, please.

My personal opinion, since I ask is that I do not see the point of making intermediate steps such as merging Access databases. These steps will certainly cause a lot of problems without making significant capital gains. I will go straight to the carent, recreating in all Oracle tables that are not there. Then he fraudrait probably adpatet SQL queries, for example to replace the quotes by single quotes, replace the VB functions other things equal, etc..Regarding linked tables, I think it should not be afraid. Their management is transparent. It's as if they were normal tables Access. So we must treat them as if they were ordinary Access tables to move to Oracle. Good luck.

    Thank you for your opinion

I just tested with an Access database and tool for Oracle ... The result is stunning yet!
The tool then I convert my Access database and all my requests!

Regarding linked tables ... many are no longer useful because everything will be in a single Oracle database

Go ... we will continue on this path unless otherwise subsequently.
