It appears as if Google and Apple have different opinions about the reason why the new Google Voice application for iPhone is not available in Apple's Application Store. The Federal Communications Commission lately made public an earlier private letter written by Google, stating that the Google’s Voice application was originally refused.
According to that letter, "Apple's legislature informed Google that the Google Voice application was refused as the Apple assumed the application copied the core dialer functionality of the iPhone.” According to Apple they never refused the application.
Google states Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing had a discussion with AlGoogle's senior VP, on telephone dated 7th July, where he informed that the Apple had decided to reject Google’s application.
Though, Apple refuses any such conversation. An Apple lately stated that Apple was examining Google Voice decision on the App Store is still pending.
After few months Google Voice release, Apple said about Google Voice that it was still considering the application, but said their early thoughts of the service was that it "alters the iPhone's characteristic user experience by taking place of the iPhone's core mobile telephone functionality and replacing Apple user interface with its own user interface."
