Default A queer behavior of fonts

I am going to discuss with you a queer behavior of fonts (mostly postscript outlines or 'Adobe Type-l' fonts) that I have installed along with Adobe Font Folio 11. I installed 'Helvetica Std' font. The problem with this font and (as I think with most PostScript Outline fonts) is that some programs can't include them in the font dialog box that appears when we want to change the font that application is using. Some programs like Photoshop and Visual Studio can list them but others like Internet Explorer 8, Safari, Gujarati Lexicon (developed in Java) or Microsoft XML Notepad 2007 cannot list them at all. However, regular Windows Notepad can list it. Why is this happening? I mean, why does IEB also not allow me to choose postscript outline fonts as a default font for web page while Windows' Notepad allows me to do so? Even the same font dialog box used by Notepad and XML Notepad behaves differently. What is the solution for this? Please reply soon. Thanks and regards.

I have tried out Adobe Font Folio and have experienced many such problems which have been mentioned above by you. Adobe Font Folio.is best suited to work with Adobe's Creative Suite programs as it has to bridge the same fonts with the other applications of the suite and the fonts being installed with Adobe Font Folio are not allowed to be used with other applications. Also if you are using CorelDraw, make sure that the fonts are installed via 'Bitstream Font Navigator', which comes along with the application. But this also might be a problem area in some cases. The best solution to all your problems will be getting the 'Adobe Type Manager' (ATM) installed. All the fonts should be installed through this application and not by simply dragging them to the Windows Fonts folder as most people usually do. This should solve all your hassles. Do let us know if the proble'm persists.
