UNREGMP2.EXE - Entry Point Not Found Error Message - PC Troubleshooting Computer Tips
You obtain this error when you upgrade Windows XP Home or 2000 to XP Professional. You obtain this message if you attempt to repair Windows XP Home or Pro. The other part of message tells The method entry point get IUMS could not be placed in dynamic link library msdart.dll. Clicking on error message shows to do nothing and message reappears every time.
This is caused by having a newer edition of Windows Media Player installed on earlier Windows installation than what XP comes with by default. When you attempt to upgrade or to repair Windows, Setup program will attempt to install a previous edition of Windows Media Player also to new edition that you had before installed. The installation will create error message and stop. This generally occurs when you attempt to install from a Windows XP CD that does not have any service packs.
There are some methods around this message and they may or may not work for this state. One thing you can do is tick Ok until it goes away. This needs you to tick Ok 200 or more times for it to work. Or you may lucky and only have to click it 50 times or so. Holding down CTRL as ticking may give best results.
You can attempt to utilize Task Manager to close error message. For this, follow the steps given below:
Push SHIFT + F10 to open a Command Prompt window.
Type taskmgr.exe and then hit ENTER.
Tick on Applications tab.
In list of tasks, tick error message entry.
Tick End Task.
Then Quit Task Manager.
Close Command Prompt window
OR
Tick on Processes tab.
Tick unregmp2.exe in list of processes.
Tick End Process.
Then Quit Task Manager.
Close Command Prompt window
You can also attempt to press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to show Task Manager Window.
