A file without any data is called Zero-byte file. While some files have some bytes or MB of data, the appropriately named zero-byte file has 0 bytes.
When a file transfer does not complete successfully that time Zero-byte files are normally formed. This may occurs when a file is downloaded through the Web or an FTP client, or when an e-mail attachment is not send properly. The result may be a file that has a name, but no data. If anyone sends you a zero-byte file, the best alternative is to ask them to send the file once more using a various program if possible.
As zero bytes file do not have any information they cannot be access and should be removed. Though, certain system might not be able to remove zero-byte files, as they might be corrupted. You may get error message saying “Cannot delete file: Cannot read from source file or disk," or something similar. If this occurs, you are requiring using a program such as DelinvFile or similar program to remove the file.
