    computer to read and write data on the HDD, it should be formatted using a particular file system. If using Windows 2000 /Windows XP the HDD should be formatted as either FAT32 /NTFS.

    To check what file system your computer is using, First open "My Computer." after that right-click on the HDD you would like to check. In many cases, this is the C: drive. Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. The file system (FAT32 /NTFS) must be particular near the top of the Properties.
