Finding an Available Static IP Address on Network
IP address is a 4 part number that uniquely recognizes PC to other devices on network. A static IP is fixed device will always be allocated same IP address. While allocating a still IP for PC, first find an unused address. Allocating used IP can create all kinds of issues.
• Go to "Start", then select "Run". Enter "cmd" and hit "Enter".
• Enter "ipconfig", and hit "Enter". Device’s IP address will be listed under heading "IPv4 Address". Note down that IP address.
• Replicate the procedure on other PCs connected to network. Note down their IP addresses as well.
