• Choose 2 cells from first column of table. Select Merge Cells. This is placed in Merge Group that is in Table Tools Layout button. Then uncheck text. Two cells will merge in one cell. Merging 2 cells means, Microsoft Word converts text from 2 cells and put them in a individual paragraph in Merged cell.

• To divide a cell, select the cell to divide. And then select Split Cells option from the Merge Group under Table Tools Layout option. Split Cells Dialog Box opens up. Use this box to decide which cells to divide and number of rows or columns in every cell should have.

• Under Number of Columns box, entre 1. Then enter 3 in Number of Rows. Select OK and untick cells. Single cell will be divided in 3 rows. Every row of same height.

• While dividing cells in number of rows, width of original, first column will not change. While dividing a cell in several columns, height of rows from original cell remains same. If having text in original cell, text will be in upper left cell.
