Instructions
Step 1
Open command prompt window; the procedure will differ based on Windows.
Step 2
Type "regedit" in command prompt window.
Step 3
Click "OK."
Step 4
Go through entries in "Registry Editor" screen to entry
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\."
Step 5
Tick "+" sign by headings "Policies," "Microsoft," "Messenger" and "Client."
Step 6
Right click in right pane of "Registry Editor" screen.
Step 7
Click "New" when submenu emerges.
Step 8
Choose "DWORD Value." You will notice "REG_DWORD" of Registry Editor.
Step 9
Type "PreventAutoUpdate" in “New Value #1".
Step 10
Double click "PreventAutoUpdate."
Step 11
Allocate entry value of "1."
Step 12
Connect "X" to close "Registry Editor" screen.
Step 13
Start," "Turn off PC" and "Restart" to reboot PC.
