Microsoft Word document file deletions happen for broad range of causes. Occasionally person removes file by firmly deletes file only to realize later that file is wanted for project or in communications. Occasionally system or software failure happens or an unmanageable incident removes file or damages device that stores file. What the deletion or retrieval cause, Microsoft gives Microsoft Word users with many methods of retrieving deleted Word documents.
Instructions
Step 1
Recover removed Word document from Recycle Bin. In bin, go to "View" and "Details"
In list, find file name and click it one time to highlight it. Go to "File" and "Restore" to send file back to its first stored place. If you can't find removed file, click "Date Deleted" to sort files by deletion date. If file is not in bin, go to Step 2.
Step 2
Test secondary storage device that you utilize to back up files. Click "Open" and in window select storage device. Search by file name or last save date in "Date Modified" column.
Step 3
Find Word made backup copy, if you have "Always create backup copy" aspect turned on in Word. Word made backup copies have WBK or file extension. To search:
1) Utilize Word's "Open" file window. In "Open" select "All Files *.*" from "Files of type" drop-down menu or "All Files". Find file and click "Open".
2) Utilize Windows "Search" feature. GO to "Start".
For XP Click "Search" and choose "Click here to utilize Search Companion". Pick "All files and folders" and type ".WBK" in "All or part of the file name: " field. Verify that you have "My Computer" or "Local Hard Drives (C:;Dchosen in "Look in" menu and then click "Search".
For Windows Vista/7 Type ".wbk" in "Search" box. Press "Enter" key to start search. If you are using Windows 7, search mechanically starts after you type file extension.
Step 4
Close Word and then again open it to check if Word's "AutoRecover" aspect saved before edited copy of file. If Word recovered file, double click file name in sidebar the file name must have "[Original]" or "[Recovered]" to right of it and instantly save document as DOC or DOCX file.
