NTFS has best safety than FAT32 and FAT, file compression, and file encryption aspects. You can simply convert FAT or FAT32 file system to NTFS, but vice-versa is not probable. Also, an NTFS partition cannot be accessed from either Windows 95 or Windows 98. Floppy disks are unreachable on NTFS system. Following procedure applies to all OS out since Windows NT with Service Pack 4.0.

Step 1

Go to "Start" and click "Run."

Step 2

Enter "command.com" in run dialog box and click "OK."

Step 3

Enter "convert D: /FS: NTFS" at command prompt and push "Enter." Reboot PC after process finished.
