NTSC is standard video system utilized in US. It sends 30 frames per second to TV, and every frame is created of 525 separate scan lines. As comparison, PAL is standard about all over else in world. It moves 25 frames per second and is created of 625 scan lines. There are several reasons to change NTSC to PAL; a main is to back up DVD video files and play them in various systems. The procedure to do so is simple and user-friendly.

Step 1


Download IFOedit. It is free program that downloaded on both PC and Mac, and permit user to modify features of VOB files. User can include or remove subtitles or modify NTSC to PAL and vice versa, among other things.

Install IFOedit. This is rapid and simple setup.

Step 3

Start IFOedit and wait for program window to appear. Window must contain menu bar, two vacant workspaces and two rows of buttons, "Open," "Save," "Region Free" and "Delete Playback."

Click "Open" button. New browser window opens, authorize to top quality VOB file to edit.

Step 5


Go through browser window to get DVD video fin NTSC format to convert. After chosen it, double click on folder and get list of VOB files. Based on information on DVD and video files are based on number of VOB files. It can be two or up to 50 or more.

Choose and highlight on initial VOB file and click "Open". This load VOB into IFOedit workspace and permit you to edit it.

Go to bottom workspace; there are icons of information. Search icons that seem like roll of film these are rows that you must edit. Double click on rows and an edit box will pop up.

Locate "Video Format" sector in edit box. Format section contains two options NTSC and PAL. Choose which one you want video file to be; circle adjacent to NTSC must be marked. Click circle adjacent to "PAL" to modify video to PAL.

Click "OK" and do similar thing with all other filmstrip icons. Ensure all filmstrip rows modified from NTSC to PAL earlier than moving on.

Click "Save". If you want backup of DVD, then just start new save folder in new place and save all VOB files there. If you want to overwrite old VOB files, go back to original DVD video place and click "Save" program ask if you want to overwrite earlier file. Click "Yes" and wait for it to save.

Step 11

Do again Steps 4 through 10 with every VOB file in original DVD video folder. There are many VOB files per DVD video, and in every VOB files two to 10 filmstrip icons, so this can be lengthy procedure. Take your time and ensure to double check work. Save frequently, and after you have gone through every VOB and saved new, edited VOB instead, DVD video file changed from NTSC to PAL.
