If you are software developer then you want to make it simple for people to obtain software. If you have freeware or shareware that permitted to provide to other people, you also want to find way to make it downloadable as even little parts of software are too large to send over email. Creating software download is not nearly as difficult as it sounds.

Instructions

Step 1

Get software that you want to make into download. Ensure you have all files that go with it in one place that is simple to find. Check that there are no damage files.

Step 2

Organize web page to place download on. Make it accessible on server that is access by FTP program, but web page is simpler. Ensure that page clarifies what it is. If software has license, ensure you make license clear. Do not make software that you do not own rights to till license permits this.

Step 3

Enclose and compress software into one file. WinZip is easy and successful software that allow to copy many files into one folder. It compress files and make them into one ZIP file.

Step 4

Upload software file to server. This probably web server if web page is used. Ensure that files have authorizations open for everybody to read, same as web page.

Step 5

Create link to software. Same as you make link to other page, make link to download file. When user clicks on link, file will download.
