AVI video files are broadly utilized on PCs, but format is frequently limited to fullscreen, square TV format rather than being in widescreen. AVI file converted to widescreen format via software that modifies its aspect ratio. Aspect ratio is dimensions of length versus width of video image. QuickTime Pro video program is better option for changing AVI to widescreen as it works similar way on both PCs and Macs and is fully compatible with AVI video format.

Instructions

Step 1

Get Mac or PC free edition of QuickTime Player should from site. Install then launch it on machine. Open "QuickTime" on Mac or "File" on PC and choose "Registration". Enter name in "Registered To".

Step 2

Go back to web browser and buy QuickTime Pro registration code. Type the registration code. Exit the window. Close QuickTime Player.

Step 3

Launch QuickTime Player once more. Now it turned into QuickTime Pro through addition of registration code. Drag AVI file onto QuickTime Pro's icon. Stay there as AVI file loads into QuickTime Pro and shows a video window.

Step 4

Go to "Window" and choose "Show Movie Properties". Click "Video Track". Click "Visual Settings" tab. Check "Keep Aspect Ratio" box. Choose "Pixels" adjacent to "Scaled Size" tab. Enter "704" in first box adjacent to "Scaled Size" tab. Enter "400" in box adjacent to first box. Shut the window.

Step 5

Choose "File," "Export" and name AVI file "AVI Widescreen" in vacant column at top of window. Choose "Movie to AVI" adjacent to "Export" tab. Click "Save" to save AVI file that converted into widescreen format.
