Thread: Desktop icons change to generic icons

While working on computer suddenly my desktop icons change to generic icons. I tried different method to get the original icons back but none of them worked out. I am not getting any solution for my problem and need some help for solving that problem.

Boot your computer in SAFE mode then reboot it in Normal mode. This will rebuild the Iconcache.db file

Check files

1. Go to start >> run>> type cmd and press Enter.

2. Enter the command: and press enter:

sfc /verifyfile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll

3. If there is no integrality destruction we can continue the next step.

Register Shell32.dll

1. Go to start >> run>> type cmd and press Enter.

2. Enter the command: and press enter:


regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

3. Reboot the system and check the changes..
