Mostly sound card are being used in Computers to transmit Audio signals to speakers it is a device which comes integrated in your motherboard or even in PCI cards even you can get external sound cards but they are not commonly used by most of the users. And after installation of the sound card you need to install the driver of that particular card or else you will face a problem as the sound would not be heard especially for the Windows if the correct driver is not being installed which is not compatible to the operating system

As you get a driver CD on purchase of any sound card and you have just insert and by one click the drivers are automatically installed and the system gets restarted and if you don’t have the CD you can download it from the manufacturer website.

And after installation just go to your Device manager and check if your sound drivers are installed or not. If you see any yellow colored mark on the sound device you need to reinstall your drivers again and still the problem continues your drivers are being corrupted and you need to download it from the website

And if the sound drivers are installed and still the sound is not being heard you should check your speaker connection whether the speakers cable are plugged in the green cords or plug them into any other device like walkman, etc to check that sound is being produced from the speakers and of not then you need to buy new speakers after plug-in back into the computer an still you face the same problem you need to check the volume control in the windows on the right hand side of the task bar just double click on the speaker icon and adjust the volume and if you don’t see any speaker icon on the taskbar you can get it by going to the control panel and search for sound devices and double click on the icon and after the dialogue box is opened you have to tick mark in the option noting as create shortcut on the taskbar and apply the changes and click on the OK. And check in the sound volume control whether they are being set to mute mode and uncheck the mute box and even check the speaker’s volume control

Another way to check the sound card is to change the PCI slot of the card and fix it in the other card may be the slots be defected one but only for the PCI sound card but if you have integrated card in your motherboard then you have get it repaired from the authorized person or you should buy a PCI sound card fro your system and you have just disable it from the BIOS the inbuilt sound to avoid any sound clash between both the cards. So finally check whether your sound card or speaker is gone bad and you need to replace them.
