Acoustic Edge Sound Card Review Introduction
Now OCA has Philips Acoustic Edge sound card in house for review. If you discontinue and think, there are actually not a plethora of quality soundcards out there to select from. You have SBLive series, Hercules and Guillemot Maxisound and Fortissimo series, and then you have the Philips edge series of soundcards.
Phillips is famous for its many customer electronics products, but what constructs them think they can bust into PC hardware market and give a quality upgrade for us hardcore PC gamers and builders? I've been hearing good things about the Philips products, so lets take a look at what she has to offer.
Here are a few pictures of the card in question
You will see the retail boxed edition comes with all things to contain a registered version of Power DVD, Giants, instruction manual, and driver CD which has Siren XPress, Acid Xpress and AudioPix, with recent drivers for win9x and NT and Win2k. Yes Win2k with a few demos to show off your recently acquired part of hardware.
Before I had heard rumors of poor support for Philips line of sound cards, but it looks as if they have been hard at work to ensure we have recent updated drivers for all versions of MS Windows. The card is having good shiny black PCB and is filled to edge with capacitors, chipsets and connectors. I like a good "beefy" card to upgrade machine.
