I have gone through your post and I think that when faced with a problem, because there might be something wrong with the sound control. First of all, I would suggest you first check all the sound system is perfect or not? After all the sound settings properly re-connect the headset on your laptop and then I think you will not get anything. I hope this is useful for you, and you can solve the problem.

If you try to say that after installing Linux, which have begun to address this problem and also if you use Windows Vista on your laptop, then I think you must restart the laptop and after the launch of Windows Vista, insert the handset back on your laptop and then see if the problem is or not? If you do not face the same problem with Windows Vista, then I think you need to install Linux again after you do not have this problem again with your laptop.

I was exposed to this type of problem in my laptop ands even after I tried to solve the problem by searching the internet and after I found the solution. To resolve this problem by installing ALSA driver 1.0.23. First download the driver from your laptop. ALSA driver you can find easily on the Internet as a means ALSA Advanced Linux Sound Architecture. I hope that after that your laptop will not cause a problem.

Improving Your Linux can solve the problem. Not sure about this, but you should try to upgrade to the latest Linux version. Download the latest version of Linux from the Internet and after they are installed in your laptop. Now, after installing it on your system, you must install the ALSA driver that corresponds to the version of your Linux system. Now, after installing the ALSA driver to check whether it is or not? If you still get the same problem so I know?
