What happen when two subwoofers are hidden under the set of two satellite speakers? You get a 2.2 channel audio which is rce. exactly what the Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass FX3022 offered. The FX3022 are two set of conical shaped desktop speakers uniquely designed woofer at their base. They have a glossy black finish with the right channel sporting ports for AC adapt-connect other audio source. On the top of this right speaker are volume controls and power switch button with no controls for treble and bass though. There is one 1.5-inch full range drivers on each speaker while their 4-inch drivers at the base radiate the mid bass at 360 degree. The total speaker power output is rated at 25 watts RMS which would be enough for most office or home use.

We could set the speakers up in a minute! It was that simple. We were very impressed with the bass reproduced from these speakers. It was quite detailed but had tendency to boom at high volume. These are among the better bets if you seek moderate bass on your desktop without costing too much space on your desktop. We however were quite disappointed by the reproduction of highs and mids which left much to be desired. Movie dialogues, vocals on music, crashing cymbals and shattered glasses; all sounded harsh and lacked transperancy. On top of that, the overemphasized bass at louder volume made the sound worse. So make sure you keep a check on the volume which sounds best at moderate level and tweak the EQ on your audio player for better mids and highs. Overall, the FX3022 with its unique and cost saving design has impressive sound for its size.
