When saying about performance of Logitech X-240 PC speaker system, I tried to remember that this is a $36 system, not a $200 system thus my views about the performance of this system are in comparison with other "budget" PC speaker systems here.
The sound that these speakers create is excellent. The mids sound full and rich, and the highs sound crystal clear. Deformation is test at higher volumes. This system will get very much loud in PC room or an average sized bedroom it may not fill large "cavernous" great room, but it would definitely come close. Also, if you have large room in home you can spend more than $36 on a 2.1 speaker system for PC.
The subwoofer does its best to create hard-hitting lows, but a 4-inch woofer can do before submitting to a bit of distortion. The sub's distortion at higher volumes is hardly visible, though, because mids and highs will drown it out. The sub will make happy more people, but do not anticipate it to rattle windows or shake floor. The combination of two satellite speakers and subwoofer creates excellent sound quality that will blow your PCs factory speakers out of the water.
Logitech X-240's peak power output is 50 watts, and 25 watts RMS in normal levels. The subwoofer utilizes about 15 watts RMS at 8 ohms with 10% THD. Every satellite utilizes about 5 watts RMS into 8 ohms with 10 % THD. The system's signal to noise ratio is an impressive >96dB this means that sound is clearer with less background noise.
You should be pushed to get better 2.1 speaker system for PC in $36 price range. The sound is not perfect, but I have heard $100 PC speakers that sound bad. Logitech X-240 speaker system across the Web is positive. Generally people who compare this speaker system to PC speakers of all price levels rather than to other speaker systems in X-240's price range, so remember that when you are doing your research before purchasing next set of PC speakers.
