Hooking Up the System
Once cables and wires were temporarily routed, in my living room, I powered system on. After appreciating that not any speakers were DOA (dead on arrival), I took the time to fiddle with placement of speakers and woofer in room until I found perfect position for all.
Letís now see the picture of back side of woofer where all action are happen.
For getting right placement you have ability to mount one or more of the satellite on wall. As you will notice from picture, two of them are mounted. But this is no need it just saves much space, particularly as satellites are rather big.
This audio system is intended for a home theater. Thus, subwoofer is a so called long-throw, which means that it must be located at a relative distance from listener. The woofer is very powerful, so do not expect to lay it on ground below your typical office desk if it's not particularly intended for audio woofers.
If you do not respect these positioning needs then you can damage its level of performance. Imagine the case that your comfortable sofa is on one side of your living room, and then you place subwoofer and front speakers on other side of room. This distance is needed. The back speakers must be placed anywhere behind you. Rather, mount them on wall or obtain creative. But mainly, recognize that they include to those wanted "surround" effects.
The rule-of-thumb on how to place your speakers is the following place them according to stickers. And as listening to movie or music, if you hear heavy bass, bass tones, or noising effects, then possibilities are subwoofer is close, it faces you directly, or room is small.
Play around with various positions and angles; you can notice how the "reflection of sound-waves" based on placement of your furniture, objects, and walls. If subwoofer is dominant and all you can hear is noising, an unpleasant tone, then it is not a best configuration. You won't be able to hear best effects and tones from other speakers.
I was impressed by satellites' bass-reflex topology. In fact, only some companies are using wooden attachments for their satellites. Similarly, bass-reflex topology is frequently abandoned. Thus, these satellites are intended to bring desirable sounds and tones, not just loud, distorted, and reverberant garbage. So it "impresses" users because of its "colossal output power".
