The Expressionist Classic from Altec Lansing is a good looker with an unusual design. The speakers feature a tubular design and house a 7.5 Watt driver each. The face is a square piece of transparent acrylic that acts as a stand. The speakers rest on the desktop with the drivers aimed at your ears. What we didn't like was the completely glossy body which easily attracts stains, dust and fingerprints. You'll have to keep a lint free cloth handy at all times to keep the sheen intact. The manufacturer should have concentrated on sound quality as much as styling-the audio quality was not very impressive. The output is pretty decent at low and mid volume levels but it starts jarring at high volume. Also it sounded hollow, lacking maybe due to its design. These speakers command a very high premium solely for the design. You can get a good 2.1 system for this price.
