High End Sound is hard genre to explain. Few see Audiophiles as mysterious as Freemasons and their hobby as inaccessible as Skull & Bones. As an Audiophile I can manifest to not owning a Masonic cap with vacuum tube connected to the tassel, nor do I skulk around the Yale campus whispering passwords such as; "sonist." At least not currently. For the most components we Audiophiles are merely HiFi aficionados who are adamant music reproduction should arrive as close as potential to sounding live. I select a picture of the Atma-Sphere MA-1 MkIII OTL tube amps because they epitomize a euphonious wedding of engineering and ergonomics which High End Audio manufacturers strive for. As esoteric as High End is, OTL amplifiers are a niche within a niche.
In the Transcendent Audio T8 OTL amp, Stereophile mentioned a time of: "...high-end cognition, when the music enters the mind and polarizes the soul." High praise surely from a Journalist who expenditures his days evaluating few of the
finest HiFi gear on the market. Unfortunately some of us will have such times of Audio perspicuity and still sadder even most individual will not hear a truly "musical" system in their lifetime.
There is hope. If you have occurred across this content, you are likely an electronics buff on few level still if you are not aware of it. Regardless of your awareness level, the odds are you are dissatisfied with the sound quality of your Computers. This is basic, while each other Component-pertinent ancillary has been developing along with the central processing unit, PC-audio has largely been ignored. With the exception of a few surround audio systems aimed primarily at Gamers and to a lesser extent PC-based home theatre, Stereophonic systems for Computers have been later thought.
Luckily the state of Computer-sound is slowly developing due to the burgeoning music-documents industry founded largely on IPods, MP3 phones and PDAs to name just a few. Changes started about 5 years before and from all places, they originated within the realm of High End Sound. Audiophiles looked the profits of music-documents servers, CEO of EMI records was stated as telling "The CD as it is correct now is dead..." he created this statement in reference to the world wide popularity of movable music-documents servers which perfectly what an IPod or Music Phone is.
