I just bought a new internal DVD-burner for my desktop PC, because my old one quit working. My question is, the new optical drive I bought uses SATA (serial ATA) connections for both the data and power slots. The old drive used IDE and the older 4-pin power connections. I bought the adapter for the power, and the SATA cable for data plugged right into my motherboard, as it supports both IDE and SATA data connections. The problem is that my computer doesn't recognize the new drive at all in the "My Computer" areas, or any other area. Any idea why? Any tips or tricks? Thanks.I'm running Windows XP, as well.
